What is the best solar software?
There isn’t one answer, and we won’t invent one. “Best” depends on whether you design residential roofs or utility-scale sites, whether you need a price before you talk to sales, and what your existing toolchain is. A single ordered list cannot hold all three.
We also cannot rank on quality yet. A score needs eight verified first-party reviews and a ranking needs five scored products in a category. We hold 0 verified reviews, so every ranked list on this site is refused until that changes. What we publish instead is 2,422 sourced facts about 100 products, so you can rank them against your requirements rather than ours.

How far each category is from a ranking
Two gates, both hard-coded. G1 — no product carries a score below eight verified reviews. G2 — no category carries a ranking below five scored products. Every row below is currently refused.

guides rather than rankings-in-waiting. The per-category evidence pages linked above are
noindex — they exist for readers who follow the link, not for search.
Why we refuse to aggregate other sites’ ratings
It would be both non-compliant and dishonest
The obvious shortcut is to average the star ratings on G2, Capterra and TrustRadius and call it a score. We don’t, for two reasons.
It breaks the rules we publish under. Google’s review snippet guidance requires ratings collected first-party and prohibits aggregating ratings from other sites. A score assembled that way could never appear in our structured data, so it would be a number on a page with nothing standing behind it.
And it hides the sample. Those platforms mix vendor-solicited reviews, incentivised reviews and organic ones without telling you the ratio. Averaging three unknown samples produces a precise-looking number with no defensible meaning. Aggregating other sites' ratings is not a substitute — Google requires first-party ratings for review structured data and prohibits aggregating others', and we would be asserting a quality judgement we have no evidence for.
When will rankings exist?
When 7 of our 19 categories accumulate five products with eight verified reviews each. 12 categories hold fewer than five products in total, so they can never clear the gate from this dataset and will stay reference guides permanently.
