Corrections

A corrections policy that has never corrected itself is decoration. This log opens with seven corrections to our own earlier research, made before we published a single finding about anyone else.

The policy

  1. Anyone, including a vendor, can submit a correction.
  2. We re-verify against the vendor’s own page.
  3. If we were wrong: we correct it, date the correction, log it here, and keep the old value in the change record.
  4. If we were right: we reply with the URL and the date we read it, and publish nothing further.
  5. A vendor cannot remove a finding. A vendor gets a right of reply, published alongside it, once.

Monthly we publish the aggregate: submissions received, verified, rejected, and why.

Corrections to our own research

Seven findings from our earlier research did not survive re-verification on 28 September 2026.

The pricing-transparency denominator was wrong

Our research drafts stated "27 of 97 readable products publish a price". That silently counted the 10 products whose vendor surface we could not read as evidence that they do not publish. They are evidence of nothing. The correct denominator is the 87 products whose pricing state we actually established — 27 published, 9 partial, 51 not published. Ten were unreadable and three were never price-checked; all thirteen are now excluded. The finding is unchanged in substance and the percentage moves from 28% to 31%. Caught while building the site, by a check that compares a rendered figure against the live dataset.

Planet Plan Sets vs Solar Permit Solutions price spread

We previously recorded a "4.8x spread for the same scope" between these two plan-set services, with both said to claim PE stamps and 50-state coverage. On re-checking, Planet Plan Sets publishes no price, no state count and no PE-stamp reference on its homepage. The price-spread finding does not hold. The supportable finding is a transparency contrast.

Fifth Third ownership of Dividend Finance

Recorded previously as ownership. The only signal on the site is a logo filename containing "fifththird", which is exactly the kind of inference our own rules forbid. Downgraded to unverified.

Power Factors consolidating Drive, Greenbyte and BluePoint

None of the three products is mentioned anywhere on powerfactors.com. The consolidation claim cannot be sourced from the vendor and is downgraded to unverified.

Zeitview’s acquisition of Heliolytics

Not mentioned anywhere on zeitview.com. The legal entity in the site footer is still "DroneBase, Inc. d/b/a Zeitview". Downgraded to unverified.

KACO blueplanet PV-designer running a PV*SOL engine

The tool’s own page never mentions PV*SOL or Valentin Software. The only first-party evidence of the relationship is the host it is served from. Recorded as a relationship evidenced by the domain, with the engine unverified.

FIMER PowerPHAST built on Aurora Vision

Not confirmed. FIMER’s software-tools page lists three tools by title with no descriptions and makes no engine statement.

A contradiction on the publisher’s own product

SurgePV’s pricing page quotes prices in dollars while adding 18% GST, an Indian tax, for a company described elsewhere as UK-registered. Currency, tax regime and stated entity do not agree. Recorded on its profile, not resolved.
