Bifacial
A bifacial module generates from both faces, capturing light reflected off the ground onto its rear. The extra yield depends on ground reflectivity, mounting height and row spacing, so modelling it requires a simulation that handles rear-side irradiance rather than a flat percentage uplift.
Bifacial gain is highly site-specific: a high-albedo surface and a tall mounting structure can add meaningfully, while a dark roof directly beneath the array adds almost nothing.
Treating it as a fixed percentage is the common modelling error, which is why the capability is tracked separately from general yield simulation in this dataset.
Why it matters
A vendor claiming bifacial support may mean full rear-side ray tracing, or may mean a multiplier. Those are different products.
